The police say that explosives detonated in Andrei Torgashov’s car. The case is classified as attempted murder.
In Moscow on July 24, Andrei Torgashov, deputy chief of the 89th radio center of the military satellite communications unit, was blown up in his own car . The military official is reported to have survived, but his legs were blown off.

On the morning of July 24, a Toyota Land Cruiser, owned by Andrey Torgashov, deputy head of the military unit 33790 in the Moscow region, exploded in the north of Moscow. Military unit 33790 is the 89th satellite communications center of the Russian armed forces.
According to public reports, Torgashov’s legs (feet) were torn off. A woman was also wounded. According to preliminary data, this is the military wife Maya. Passers-by pulled both of them out of the blown up car and gave them first aid until the ambulance arrived.
Residents of the house in whose yard the explosion occurred said that gas equipment was allegedly installed in the car.
Subsequently, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that the cause of the explosion of Torgashov’s car was the detonation of an explosive device, previously installed in the car. The explosive went off as the official was getting into the car.
The entire area near the house on Sinyavinskaya Street, where the explosion occurred, was blocked off. Public transport also did not work.
The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case into the explosion. The incident was classified as an attempted murder. Investigators and criminologists, together with operational services, are inspecting the scene of the incident; a number of examinations, including medical and explosives, will be appointed in the near future.
