A British man becomes the first person in the world to receive the AstraZeneca vaccine
British resident Brian Pinker became the first person in the world to receive a coronavirus vaccine developed by the University of Oxford and the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca. This was announced by the Sky News TV channel.
It is noted that the 82-year-old man is currently at the University Medical Center of Oxford, where he undergoes dialysis procedures due to kidney disease.
The use of the AstraZeneca vaccine was approved by the UK government last week (Dec 29 – Jan 3). Mass vaccination of the population with this drug began on Monday, January 4.
At the end of December 2020, UK Health Minister Matt Hancock announced that the country had ordered 100 million doses of vaccine from Oxford and AstraZeneca.
