A boy from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada, found a letter in a bottle thrown into the ocean 25 years ago. Reported by the CBC.
Eight-year-old Nyima Mitchell was burning a fire in his backyard when he found a bottle under a nearby pine tree. The child removed the lid with pliers and pulled out a letter dated August 25, 1995. The author of the message was at that time a 14-year-old girl from Quebec who was visiting relatives in the Madeleine Islands. They are located about 90 kilometers from the boy's house.
Nyima's mother suggested that the bottle floated for some time in a nearby pond, where it was taken from the Atlantic Ocean. According to her, several years ago, very strong waves rose, flooded the entire beach, and then, according to her, the message could carry out of the ocean.
The author of the letter, Nellie Nadeau, admitted that Nyima's response to her letter came as a shock to her. “Suddenly, in your mailbox, you find a letter about an old bottle that you have long forgotten about. This gave me goosebumps for several days, ”she said.
The Canadian wrote a reply to the boy, but the letter was returned back for some reason. Then she found his family on social networks, contacted her and sent another letter.
Earlier it was reported that a resident of the Scottish island of Sunday found a message in a bottle on the beach, which was sent 26 years ago. She contacted the sender, and he was very surprised that after so many years, someone found his letter.
