Around 770,000 controls have been carried out at Austria's borders since December 19, 2020. “Yesterday alone, the police officers carried out around 100,000 border controls,” said Interior Minister Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) on Monday. At these border controls, 10,000 entry refusals were issued, mainly for third-country nationals, and around 55,000 people were sent to home quarantine.

In addition, home quarantine was checked in around 24,000 cases. Since November 17, 2020, 11,359 reports have been filed for violations of the Corona requirements and around 3,800 organ penal mandates have been issued – a larger number in the context of meetings.
