The vehicle that was carrying the guests from the party was overloaded, according to local traffic police. The car was driving on a road with many turns when it approached the river. As a result, the car fell into the water.
The incident occurred at the Gelan Bridge in Bona Zuria Woreda, Sidama, on December 29.
The footage shows people cordoning off the sunken car, trying to pull the passengers out from under the wreckage.
Osenneh Simion, a representative of the Sidama regional government, reported that 68 men and three women were killed. Five people are in hospital in critical condition.
Recall that on December 26, a passenger plane flying from Baku to Grozny crashed near Aktau in Kazakhstan. There were 67 people on board the plane, 38 of whom died. Kazakhstan has named the country where the “black boxes” of the Azerbaijani plane will be deciphered.
