Scientists of the Scientific Research Institute of Occupational Medicine (SRI MT) named after Izmerova disclosed the results of a 5G safety study. This was reported to “Interfax” in the press service of the Department of Information Technology (DIT) of Moscow.
According to experts, the maximum possible level of radiation from base stations can be increased. Scientists noted that Russia has some of the world's most stringent sanitary requirements for radiation – almost 100 times more stringent than in many European countries.
“The measurements that we have carried out have shown that the electromagnetic field generated by the operation of existing base stations often approaches the standards adopted in Russia. As a result of measurements and medical and biological research, we came to the conclusion that it is possible to change the maximum permissible level of electromagnetic radiation, “- the words of the doctor of biological sciences, head of the laboratory of electromagnetic fields of the Scientific Research Institute of MT named after Izmerov Sergey Perov.
The results of the study, on the basis of which these conclusions were made, are supposed to be transferred to the Ministry of Health and Rospotrebnadzor for decision-making. Petrov believes that thanks to the revision of the standards, it will be possible to accelerate the development of new generation communications and the emergence of high-speed services for city residents and businesses.
“The city [Moscow] is interested in further development of the communications infrastructure, while we want to make sure that 5G is safe for the residents of the capital. The study was approved by the Ministry of Digital Industry of Russia, the Ministry of Health of Russia and the working group of the Digital Economy program. It is being held with the active participation of the expert community, ”said Alexander Gorbatko, Deputy Head of the Moscow DIT.
