492 doping cases initiated against Russian athletes – WADA

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) said that the previously seized materials became the basis for the opening of 793 cases, in which 751 Russian athletes were involved.

Investigations are ongoing in 465 cases, which are conducted by the relevant anti-doping organizations, in total of these, 39. In another 27 cases, decisions are being prepared. 189 cases were closed, 99 cases of Russian athletes were already punished, 13 cases were acquitted.

In February 2021, the Movement to Restore Trust in Cycling (MRCC) published an annual anti-doping rating.

When compiling it, incidents with prohibited substances or drugs in different sports and in countries are taken into account.

Athletics became the leader of the rating among sports, in which 113 doping incidents were recorded in 2020 – this is more than double compared to weightlifting (50), which is in second place.

American football also entered the top three – 26 cases.
