Djuricin
A tailor-made start for Wiener Austria and the new coach Manfred Schmid. In the first round of the ÖFB Cup, Spittal / Drau was beaten 4-0.
In a strong first half of the game, Marco Djuricin (16.) and Eric Martel deservedly brought the Viennese 2-0 up against the Carinthian regional league with a header (43.), “Joker” Aleksandar Jukic (88.) and new signing Manfred Fischer ( 90th) sealed the 4-0 final score late.
The Viennese quickly took command on the bumpy artificial turf in Spittal's Goldeck Stadium. Djuricin had already shot the Viennese in the 16th minute with a shot from the edge of the penalty area in front of 300 Austria fans who had traveled with them. The strong Spittal goalkeeper Aric Haimburger had no chance of defense.
Just like the second purple goal by Martel, who nodded off a corner kick from Markus Suttner in the 43rd minute – 2-0. Fischer with a weak finish (14th) and Djuricin from close range (33rd) missed the preliminary decision before the break.
Even after the break, the Viennese kept the pace high. Fischer just finished his degree in the 60th minute. Martel failed again in the 74th minute to Spittal keeper Haimburger.
In the end, the Austrians tightened the reins again. Jukic hammered the ball into the near corner, making it 3-0 in the 88th minute. Only two minutes later, Fischer also scored his first competitive goal for the “Veilchen”.
The regional league had tried again and again to be dangerous with a quick switch game. Marc Ortner was only centimeters short of the consolation goal in the 38th minute, Alexander Killar clearly hit it in the 58th minute, missing the Carinthian consolation goal.
