24 coronavirus patients have died in a hospital in western India due to an oxygen leak. When a tanker was filling an oxygen tank in the city of Nashik, the valve did not work and the gas escaped.
Last year, the hospital was converted into a covid hospital due to the large number of infected patients. At the time of the emergency, there were 157 patients in the hospital, almost all on oxygen support. The condition of 61 patients was assessed as critical. According to the publication, the patients did not have oxygen for 30 minutes. 22 people died on Wednesday afternoon, two more – on the night of April 22.
The country's authorities expressed regrets to the families and friends of the victims and called the incident a heartbreaking tragedy.
