NBA star Luka Doncic's five-year contract is due to be signed in Ljubljana on Tuesday.
According to a media report, Slovenia's basketball superstar Luka Doncic plans to sign a high-value new five-year contract with the Dallas Mavericks. As the US broadcaster ESPN reported on Tuesday, a delegation from the association is said to have made their way to Ljubljana on Monday. The contract, which is said to have a financial volume of 207 million US dollars (176 million euros), will be signed and made official on Tuesday, it said.
A press conference is planned in Ljubljana, which will also be attended by Mavs owner Mark Cuban, general manager Nico Harrison and head coach Jason Kidd. “Today is a dream come true,” Doncic told ESPN . “Basketball has given me so much and has taken me to wonderful places. I am humble and excited to be part of the Dallas Mavericks.” The 22-year-old has been playing for Dallas since 2018 and averaged 25.7 points, 8.4 rebounds and 7.7 assists in his first three NBA seasons in 199 games.
Doncic recently led the Slovenian national team to the semi-finals at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, where they were narrowly defeated by France. Slovenia then lost to Australia in the bronze medal match.
