2022 Olympics: two snowboarders taken away on stretchers after injuries during competition

The fifth day of the Winter Olympics in Beijing ended with injuries for two snowboarders from the Czech Republic and Andorra.

Maev Esteves, an athlete from Andorra, made a technical error during a run in the snowboard cross qualification, fell badly and suffered a serious back injury.

The girl could not leave the track on her own and demanded the help of doctors. The competition was suspended, and the doctors carried her away on a stretcher.

For 26-year-old Maev Esteves , this is the first Olympics in her career. So far, her best result in professional sports has been 14th at the 2012 Youth Olympic Games.

Another injury was received by an athlete from the Czech Republic Vendula Khopyakova .

A 25-year-old snowboarder fell and slid off the track in the 7th group run of the women's snowboard cross.

In a group of four athletes, in which the two best finishers go, Khopyakova took fourth place. The accident occurred when she tried to overtake the Russian Christina Paul on the turn.

The girl injured her head and back, after which she had to connect doctors with a stretcher, because the athlete could not stand up on her own.

The Winter Olympics in the capital of China started on February 4 and will last until February 20. In these Games, Ukraine will be represented by 45 athletes in 12 disciplines. This is a record number of sports at the Winter Olympics for the Ukrainian team.
