Max Verstappen versus Lewis Hamilton! It's not just the duel for the Formula 1 world championship title. The duel at Silverstone last weekend turned into a heated argument between the two top racing teams Red Bull Racing and Mercedes.

Hamilton shot Verstappen off the track on the first lap of the Grand Prix. The Dutchman hit the tire wall at 280 km / h and 51 times the force of gravity and had to watch the Briton race to his eighth home win in the hospital. Verstappen berated Hamilton as “unsportsmanlike” for celebrating his victory while he was still in bed. The FIA's 10-second penalty, which could not prevent the seven-time world champion from winning, caused displeasure among the competition – it was far too mild.

The Red Bull bosses justify this not only with the health of their top driver, which Hamilton would have risked with his maneuver – the 23-year-old was uninjured, as confirmed by the hospital checks. As a result of the damage to the bolide, Verstappen would now have a decisive disadvantage in addition to the 25 points that his rival was able to catch up on him at Silverstone.

Team boss Christian Horner complained on the official homepage that damage of 1.53 million euros had occurred. Because there is a budget limit, Red Bulls lowers opportunities for developments in the further course of the season.

Horner: “In view of the severity of the accident and the mild punishment, we check all data and have the right to request an examination. We continue to look at all the evidence and consider all of our sporting options.” For the boss it is clear that Hamilton was responsible for the crash.

Verstappen is only eight points ahead of Hamilton. Before the race he had led the World Cup by 33 points.
