A rare 1986 Super Mario Bros video game cartridge was sold at Heritage Auctions in the United States. This is stated in the message of the auction house on Twitter.
The cartridge went under the hammer for 660 thousand dollars, which is a record amount. Earlier in 2020, an anonymous buyer paid $ 114,000 for a copy of the Super Mario Bros game.
It is noted that the cartridge has been preserved in literally perfect condition, in particular in a sealed plastic package. At the same time, the Associated Press notes that the video game itself was purchased as a Christmas present, but for some reason it remained lying in a drawer, where it was found several decades later.
Recall that the Super Mario Bros game was one of the first released on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in America, where it immediately became the best-selling video game at that time.
