Pakistani Christians Protest Child and Forced Marriage
Pakistani police have rescued a 12-year-old Christian woman from sex slavery from a 45-year-old Muslim. The man kidnapped the girl and forcibly kept her for several months, reports The Daily Mail.
It is reported that the girl, who was abducted in June, was repeatedly raped and forced to marry, after which the “husband” kept her chained in a barn around the clock and forced her to look after the cattle. The child is now in a shelter for victims of violence.
The girl's parents claim that the police did not respond to their complaints for a long time and even threatened to accuse them of offending the feelings of believers because of the assumption that the girl was kidnapped by a Muslim. The complaint was not officially accepted until September, more than three months after the child's disappearance.
According to Christian human rights activists, about a thousand girls from Christian and Hindu families are abducted in Pakistan every year for the purpose of forcible conversion to Islam and marriage.
