Authorities in 12 states have filed lawsuits against US President Joe Biden over his decree to protect public health and the environment. State representatives believe that the decisions of the head of state will lead to large monetary burdens for the population. Reported by The Hill.

The lawsuit was filed by the states headed by Republicans: the Attorney General of Missouri Eric Schmitt sent him to court, and the authorities of Arkansas, Arizona, Indiana, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Utah supported such a step.

First of all, the authors of the lawsuit criticize the amount present in the Biden decree, which allegedly costs society greenhouse gas emissions – $ 9.5 trillion.

“These are large enough numbers to justify a huge increase in regulation in agriculture, the production or consumption of electricity, or any other economic activity,” they said, expressing fears that the Democratic government would interfere in many aspects of American life.

In February, it became known that the United States had officially returned to the Paris Climate Agreement. The Biden government has pledged to drastically cut emissions in the coming years. The country was previously withdrawn from the agreement by former head of state Donald Trump.
