107-year-old sisters from Japan named the oldest twins in the world
Two 107-year-old twin sisters from Japan have become world record holders. They were recognized as the oldest female twins, according to the Guinness Book of Records website.
At the time of fixing the record (September 1, 2021) Umeno Sumiyama and Kome Kodama were 107 years and 300 days old. They were born on November 5, 1913, on Sedo Island in Kagawa Prefecture. There were 13 people in their family. The sisters have survived two world wars. From a young age to the present, they live separately, but keep in touch with each other.
The nursing home sisters were given certificates proving that they are the oldest living identical female twins and the oldest identical twins in history.
Recall that in July 2020, the world's oldest Siamese twins died at the age of 69 in the United States. And in August 2021, the oldest resident of Italy, who was 112 years old, died.
