Jimmy Carter is the first president in US history to reach the age of 100 and the record holder for the longest tenure as a former US president.

The 39th President of the United States of America, 100-year-old Jimmy Carter said he wants to live until the presidential election in November to vote for Kamala Harris.

NTV writes about this.

Jimmy Carter was ridiculed in the States for a long time. The 39th US President was in power for only four years. Now, as an “ex” and the first president in US history to reach the age of 100, Carter is receiving much more recognition.

While Jimmy Carter is gravely ill, he is determined to cast his vote for Kamala Harris in the US presidential election on November 5.

His wife of 77 years, Rosalynn, passed away at the age of 96 in November 2023.

The former most influential politician in the Western world is now in hospice care in his hometown of Plains, Georgia.

But Jimmy Carter still has one big goal that keeps him alive. According to his grandson Jason Carter, the 100-year-old man intends to participate in the US presidential election on November 5 and cast his vote for the candidate of his Democratic Party, Kamala Harris.

Looking back, critics called the short reign of the 39th US president a failure.

But this did not stop Carter from remaining politically active after his election defeat. He was only 56 years old when he left the White House. The politician devoted himself to the main topic on which he also lectured during his presidency – human rights. He founded the Carter Center for Human Rights and was a mediator in international conflicts. In 1994, he was active in Haiti and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Eight years later, Carter visited Cuba and spoke with leader Fidel Castro. In 2010, he secured the release of an American citizen in North Korea who had been sentenced to eight years of forced labor. The highlight of Carter's political activity was the Nobel Peace Prize, received in 2002 for his mediation efforts and protection of human rights.

Supporters and critics believe that Carter became famous only after his presidency. Thus, the unsuccessful president became a successful and respected ex-president.

Earlier, The Washington Post reported that the United States may allow Ukraine to strike deep into Russia after the elections.
